The Caribbean Islands
Travelling to the VIRGIN ISLANDS:
For a charter starting in Tortola, the most
convenient option is to arrive in Tortola via San Juan, Puerto
Rico. Alternatively a less expensive option but a
longer travelling time is to arrive in St. Thomas
and take a ferry
to Tortola.
The ferry ride is 45 minutes and costs about $50
return per person. The ferries run several times
daily from approximately 8:00 am to 4:30 pm,
starting in Charlotte Amalie or Red Hook, St. Thomas
and landing in West End or Road town, Tortola. Ferry
reservations are not necessary.
In order to take the ferry the same day as your
flight, you should arrive in St. Thomas before 3:00
pm. In case your only flight option is to arrive
later than 3:00 pm, we suggest making hotel
reservations in St. Thomas and taking a ferry the
following morning to Tortola. If you are planning on
leaving the same day that your charter ends we
suggest a flight time of 2PM or after. Another
option is that you can fly into St Thomas and out of
Tortola or visa versa.
It is not possible to take a ferry from Tortola to
St. Thomas for an early morning flight leaving from
St. Thomas.
The ferries operating between St. Thomas and Tortola
are Smith's Ferry, Tortola Fast Ferry and Native Son
Ferry.

Caribbean Virgin Islands:
The Virgin Islands are the eastern island group of
the Leeward Islands, which are the northern part of
the Lesser Antilles, which form the border between
the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.Caribbean Windward Islands:
The Windward Islands are the southern islands of the
Lesser Antilles. The Windward Islands are called
such because they were more windward to sailing
ships arriving in the New World than the Leeward
Islands, given that the prevailing trade winds in
the West Indies blow east to west.
